Great and Friendly Service

Great and Friendly ServiceWe have dived with Buddy Dive (satellite at Belmar apartments) in Bonaire twice in the last two years. Flavia and Douwe were fantastic and sorted us out with the best dive package as well as introduction dives for the kids. They, and their staff, were always available for advice on the local sites, entry points etc. They have a shop on the apartment property and kit can be hired there. The cylinders are available to be picked up at the shop (for take away to other sites) or at the jetty for the house reef. Kit cleaning areas are available at the shop and on the jetty as well.

all infrastructure you need, hotel, restaurant, dive shop, boat departures, technical or recreational diving, courses, guides, tank refill. Great location and with the buddys reef on their own pier .

Well Suited for Our Needs

As novice divers, Buddy Dive was perfect for our needs, while also serving the more advanced & technical divers we met on the docks daily. For us, the staff was very helpful in providing recommendations on where to dive if we wanted to go offsite, both for boat and shore dives. We stuck with shore diving, and the house reef was hard to beat for convenience and varied sealife, with easy swims to neighboring reefs. Tank access 24 hrs/day was easy, as was grabbing a couple of tanks through the drive through tank farm for off site dives. Plenty of equipment rinse stations on the docks or at the drive through for post-dive rinsing. No rental gear for us, just weights and tanks (69s for my wife and 80's for me). Plenty of Nitrox available along with air tanks. Lockers (with locks) available in the dock area to store your gear and hang bars for your suits. No theft issues while we were there. Nice new rental trucks and some well aged rental trucks in their fleet (we got an "aged" one...) to take you to the many offsite dive sites. Everything, restaurants/bar, docks, dive shop, equipment storage/rental, tank farm, was all within 30 steps from our room. Very convenient. Farthest rooms, perhaps a 1 min walk. Service from almost all facets of the operation was great. Upscale Ingidients restaurant, not so much. Only poor experience of the visit was the terrible service at their priciest venue.

Easy to meet people

I traveled to Bonaire on my on for a few days, after half a day I was able to start diving with a buddy I met at the Buddy's dive desk. Very easy to dive with them.

Good enough

Buddy Dive Resort is a mixed bag. Some of the equipment is good, some is broken/damaged. Some of the staff are friendly and helpful, others are less so. Ultimately I would recommend them because they are good enough most of the time, but I would advise people to check their equipment before leaving the resort and to carry a spare tank with them to dive sites as it's annoying to have to stay on shore whilst your friends are enjoying the reefs.
