• In the west, Nanaimo stretches along the east coast of Vancouver Island featuring a number of sites including many wrecks.
• At Round Island, you will see a variety of dahlia anemones, and sea lions and killer whales can also be spotted here.

*In the east, some of the best marine diving takes place off Cape Breton Island, Novia Scotia. There are hundreds of wrecks. What to see: * Lake Ontario features some nice historical wrecks. * Conception Bay, Newfoundland has a whale bone graveyard that you can dive in. Newfoundland hosts the famous Bell Island wrecks.

When to scuba dive in Canada:

In the west, the best time for diving is during the Winter as the visibility is at it's best. Spring is the best time for seeing predators due to the abundance of new life. The temperature drops to below 10°C in Winter and rarely tops 15°C, so use a drysuit. In the east it's possible to dive year-round, but April to October are probably the best months. Winter averages 8°C and Summer 18°C.

• Octopus Point drops straight down into the abyss with marine life everywhere. The rock wall is covered with animals, such as rock scallops, trumpet sponges, nudibranches, coral, colourful anemones and sea lilies.

• In the east, in Lake Ontario George A. Marsh lies at 80 feet and was lost in a storm carrying a cargo of coal and 13 people.

• The Comet is a paddle steamer with two enormous paddle wheels each measuring 10 metres across standing vertically on the bottom of the lake.
