Due to warm water temperatures of around 27°C, the diving season is all year but, as many provinces have a rainy season from January to March, the best dive conditions exist from April to December. The best diving in Menjangan Island in Bali is during the southeast monsoon, from April to November. At Nusa Penida, Mola mola are sighted from August to September.

• At Tulamben Drop-off in Tulamben Bay, Bali you can see a magnificent purple gorgonian sea fan at about 28 meters that is over 2 metres in diameter. There are big Bumphead parrotfish, Ghost pipefish, lionfish and cometfish.
• Batu Kelebit, near Tulamben Bay, the water is cooler and the fish life is different. Visibility is often better and larger predators come in to feed including sharks and barracuda.
• Paradise House Reef in Maratua has extremely diverse marine life such as ribbon eels, octopus, harlequin shrimp and morays. Go at night to see the spanish dancers.
• At Padangbai Blue Lagoon in Amuk Bay, fish life is exceptionally rich, the coral is healthy and the water is crystal clear.
