Diveboard updates: SAC and RMV calculations

por Ksso el 03 de mayo de 2012

Consumption rate can be expressed in equivalent terms of either pressure (SAC - Surface Air Consumption = PSI per minute or bar per minute) or volume (RMV - Respiratory Minute Volume = cubic feet per minute or liters per minute). Both of those numbers are important, and are used for different purposes.

RMV is used for dive planning

SAC is used for dive execution

Thanks to John and Jason on Diveboard's uservoice ideabox we now calculate properly both values and display them in your profile for each of your tanks. To get those calculations done, simply edit your dive, head to the "profile" tab, add one or many tanks and make sure you provide the volume and start/end pressures and you're good...

Diveboard feature updates : Activity feed settings

por Ksso el 13 de abril de 2012

When we launched the activity feed a few weeks ago, it was a bit rough on the edges but we had to see it live to understand how to make it really useful. Getting one step closer to this goal we have now added a settings pane to the activity feed, which can be accessed through the wheel, top-right to the feed. This settings pane will let you understand what you are following and will give you recommendation as to chat may be of interest for you regarding your diving history. Hope you find this useful !

Diveboard Feature updates: better friends picker

por Ksso el 26 de marzo de 2012

A couple updates this week, most are under the hood, but one has quite some impact : a better friend picker.

We added pictures to your friends (even those manually entered, as long as you provide an email and that they have a gravatar picture)

Facebook friends search are showing your friends first and then a list of "other" people

If you enter a friend's email, he can be notified by email that he has been tagged in your dive (coming to diveboard and facebook later)

We also finally enabled the "publish to timeline" function. If you want your dives to appear on your timeline, head to the Dive Manager, select them all and apply the "publish to timeline" function - do not fear, if a dive was...

Diveboard feature updates: Pictures & activity feed

por Ksso el 14 de marzo de 2012

Two big addition to the service today (well actually yesterday).

A new high definition lightbox for your pictures. Now that you can upload your pictures to Diveboard, we added a gorgeous way to showcase them with that newly designed lightbox. It does it all, show the location the picture was taken information on the species tagged in the picture, and comes with the support for high-resolution pictures and videos. To get there we had to reprocess all your pictures, in most case we still had access to the originals but unfortunately in some cases we didn't ... so we had to upscale the larger resolution we had (but using smart filter so it should be ok...)The lightbox comes with its own...

TheBlu : A socially connected ocean screensaver

por Ksso el 08 de marzo de 2012

A few days ago I got an email from TheBlu, a strange company with an all-start team of advisors and founders which spent the last few months crowdsourcing 3D models of fishes. They were announcing a relaunch with their new product : an interactive ocean screensaver. The least I could say is that this announce sounded highly puzzling. So I grabbed a copy and gave it a try.and... WOOOOOAAAAAAAHHHHHH !!!!!After installing it on my Mac (and discarding an awkward installation error message) I launched the screensaver only to stumble into a real dive simulation. For the next half hour I found myself following fishes, clicking on them, changing views and just getting that feeling and excitement...

Diveboard feature updates: navigation, pictures, bulk

por Ksso el 09 de enero de 2012

It's been a while since the last update, and that's because we've been cooking a really big one for you divebaorders.Firsty we heard a few pending issues such as:

sometimes imported data showed seconds as minutes

there was no confirmation message when bulk assigning data to dives

after a bulk action dives where de-selected

and many other little quirks like that...

Those reporting the issues will be happy to see they have all been fixed in this release ! Now this would be no fun if we didn't have a few late christmas presents in this release too!A new navigation menu !We used to have 2 levels of navigation menu, which did not make a lot of sense, we've now cleaned this through one single...

Diveboard Mobile goes Opensource

por Ksso el 13 de diciembre de 2011

It's been our intent from the start to make as much as we could from Diveboard opensource. We also wanted to be able to provide solid APIs to enable users/developers to build upon and innovate. With Diveboard mobile going opensource we're starting our journey in that direction. The project is far from mature but already lets you download your dives lists and detail to your mobile and browse them through a nice looking mobile interface. The application is built with PhoneGap and jQuery  Mobile, so although last sprint had us focus on the iPhone only implementation, Android is not far behind (missing a file downloader native plugin - I used to have it work on my Nexus One allright until that...
